We purchased this range 4 months ago for a new home. I am absolutely stunned at the level of improvements in this range when compared to the 30" dual fuel 4 burner Architect II range that I had for 3 years.

The 5 burners are effective and efficient; the 19,000 BTU large burner is a significant improvement over the 15,000 BTU so called power burner of the older Architect II model.

The Convection fan is so quiet I had to look through the oven window to watch it slow down and make sure it was actually working!

The heat ventilation system in this range is top notch and the design actually works. In the older KA Architect II model the fans were so noisy and the heat ventilation system was a terrible design with water/moisture continually dripping out the front vent, down the front of the oven door onto the floor.

The stainless steel cook surface is easy to clean and maintain - again compared to the black porcelain coated cook surface on the Architect II that was a DAILY nightmare to try to clean - and never succeed.

The rollout oven rack is a great new feature - it is very functional and practical - great quality racks. If you use heavy cookware, you will appreciate this rack.

To top it all off, the new Aqualift steam cleaning method is amazing, especially if you do not use chemicals. It is simple, safe and very effective - 45 minutes from start to finish. So far, I run the Aqualift clean every month and do not let any grease or spills build up. No head in the oven scrubbing or toxic oven cleaners to deal with.

Additional and obvious improvements are the larger sized oven and oven window. I also prefer the new industrial design. I have not used the lower baking oven (which was previously a warming drawer on the Architect II).

I came close to not wanting to buy another KA range after my negative experience with the Architect II - I am so glad I did buy the new range model.

If you want an amazing gas cooktop and a great electric oven with a QUIET 'to die for' fan, and an easy to keep clean oven and stainless steel cooktop, you will not be disappointed. Best quality dual fuel range in this price range (and in my opinion it is better than my daughter's Bertazzoni range!!!).

(Key Fact: I have never written a review of any appliance or any purchase for that matter, so this is a first, and that is a testimonial to how pleased I am with this range and compelled to say so).

We are extremely disappointed with our recent purchase of a "KitchenAid® 30-Inch 5-Burner Dual Fuel Convection Front Control Range with Baking Drawer" (YKSDB900ESS0). We host family functions and a range with two ovens was mandatory. During our search, we only looked at ranges that had two ovens. This range even says in the title on the KitchenAid website that it has a Baking Drawer. This is NOT the case.
After we determined that there was an issue with this lower baking drawer, I called the KitchenAid help line. The first time that I called, the lady was amazed and shared that she had never heard of anyone having problems baking in the lower oven. She very nicely arranged for a service call and a polite and skilled technician came to look at our range. His diagnosis was brutal. He shared that this lower baking drawer was not a baking drawer as advertised but rather it was ONLY a WARMING OVEN. We were crushed and said that there must be a mistake. He pulled out the schematics for the range and showed us that the baking drawer was only 110 volt and was as I remember it 1,100 watts only. As he said, this will never bake.
A week later we had another small issue and I called the help line again. While discussing my issue, I shared our dismay about the results of the lack of being able to bake in the baking drawer. Again, the KitchenAid representative was surprised at the report that the baking drawer would not bake and he sent a technician to investigate yet again. The result this time was that it was confirmed that the baking drawer was only a warming oven. At my insistence, the technician contacted his engineering department as was recommended by the agent that I talked to on the phone. It was confirmed by whomever he called that this oven only has a warming drawer and it will not bake.
I again called the help line as I wanted to determine what could be done about this. I was assured that the baking draw was in fact a warming oven and if I wanted a range with two ovens, I should go out and purchase one. The conversation was polite but absolutely NOT helpful nor was KitchenAid willing to discuss any options with me. If I lived on a boat, the way I feel today, I probably would consider using it as an anchor. Obviously, we are extremely dissatisfied customers.

Pretty disappointed

By Loupe

Comments about KitchenAid 7.1 Cu. Ft. Slide-In Dual Fuel Range with Baking Drawer - Stainless Steel:

I'm giving this range just two stars, maybe even one, based on the fact that within about a year of installation in household of two, and lower than average use, the cooling fan has failed.
This is really unacceptable product quality. I thought spending close to $3500 would give me something reliable.
I was double disappointed to discover the warranty is for only one year. As a builder of homes, I have to stand behind my product for ten years.
I hope Kitchenaid will stand behind theirs in this case so I can write a positive review

Multiple service calls in one year, fan, burner and now the digital display has disappeared. Very disappointed. It does not measure up to a previously owned Kitchenaid dual fuel. If you get this range buy an extended warranty!

Steam Tray damaged

By DT

from Mississauga

Comments about KitchenAid 7.1 Cu. Ft. Slide-In Dual Fuel Range with Baking Drawer - Stainless Steel:

Product works just fine so far but the metal steam tray upon inspection is damaged on the corner. The metal is scuffed and not coated black to finish so the inside steel is exposed.

Also, one of the plastic caps on the range does not line up perfectly with the the OFF line on the knob so it looks faulty. I can't turn the plastic piece straight so have to live with it not looking aligned.

Otherwise everything else is good.

No parts available for repairs

By Tim

from Calgary

Comments about KitchenAid 7.1 Cu. Ft. Slide-In Dual Fuel Range with Baking Drawer - Stainless Steel:

Bought this range in July. Last week the oven stopped working due to a cool fan and circuit board malfunction and one gas burner does not ignite properly due to a faulty electronic starter. The parts to resolve both issues will take over a month to get in to repair the faults. The only solution Whirlpool has is to cook our food in a fire pit in our front yard like they do in third world countries.

❤️ My new KitchenAid Dual Fuel Range

By CheryleT

Comments about KitchenAid 7.1 Cu. Ft. Slide-In Dual Fuel Range with Baking Drawer - Stainless Steel:

I love my new KitchenAid Dual Fuel range! I hadn't ever used a gas range before, so was quite fearful when I used it the first time. But after reading the easy to follow instruction manual, I am comfortably cooking again. And the convection oven is a real treat. I've done a lot of Christmas baking lately, and the roomy inside and the convection feature allows me to use two cookie sheets at a time! Haven't used the steam drawer yet, but am looking forward to using for Christmas dinner, when I need more oven. This is my favourite appliance!
