I've had my Dyson DC14 vacuum for over 10 years. I got it as soon as it was available. Along the way, I've tried several other brands and models, but no matter what those manufacturers claimed, my trusty DC14 has been better - until now. Despite how good the DC14 has been, my wife and I were considering replacing our carpets with hardwood. They looked old and worn, and the dust and dog hair in our house was really starting to aggravate our allergies. I just figured they'd finally worn out, so I strated saving for hardwoods. Then I found out about the brand new Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy. I did extensive research, compared it with all the latest and greatest out there, and nothing really came close. So I bought one - and it is AWESOME. I vacummed the entire house and was blown away by the amount of unspeakable filth and dog hair it picked up! I completely filled a large trash bag, emptying the canister more than 20 times! In fact, I ended up vacuuming the whole house twice, but only to assure myself it had gotten everything. The second time through the house, there was only enough picked up to fill the canister about 1/4 full. The carpets not only look practically brand new, but since that very first day I used this vacuum, we've not had even a single sniffle from allergies! I reckon we'll be holding off replacing the carpets with hardwood! Thank you, Dyson, for saving me a LOT of money! If you're on the fence about spending this much on a vacuum, let me assure you - it is worth every penny. Do yourself a favor. Try it. It is that good.

Replaced my on its last legs Dyson for newest top of the line vac. But was it a good idea? When they first introduced that giant ball, I thought hmm not sure I like that. Canister is smaller. This one has no filters to clean, a really good thing cause what a pain that was. But it's quite heavy. And because of that ball, it's basically like pushing around a fridge on a kid's roller skate. Totters to the left and right, hurting my hand, wrist, and shoulder. Second time I tried it, seemed easier. But because the back sits on a sort of metal q-tip, you can't roll it when it's not on. Most people roll it on the back wheels, but there are none. So you have to shove it into the closet when done, or lift it. Maybe I could just vacuum it right up to the closet and then turn it off. Gonna try that next. Another annoyance is it squeaks. Like many more enjoyable activities in life, vacuuming is a forward-backwards motion. This squeaks on the backwards pass. Every time. Which, ironically is why I replaced the old one, thinking that squeak indicated imminent death. This super Dyson comes with an attachment for everything except beating eggs, although there was no set of earmuffs, which considering the irritating squeak, would be useful. It can hold only two of those zillion attachments on the vacuum itself, tho there would be room for more if they designed it more cleverly. Instead they give you a giant tote bag with a shoulder strap. This is so you can feel like a Pan Am stewardess from the 1960's while vacuuming. As I was sure I couldn't balance the bag on my shoulder while trying to keep the vacuum from upending itself, I haven't tried wearing it. My favorite attachment, the soft dusting brush, was not included, but rather a thing with microfiber threads, which worked well as long as the trajectory of the now-thinner wand was precise, something I could achieve only about 50% of the time. It definitely has more suction. Unbelievable suction, really. My old yellow no-ball one was was awesome but this is more so. Except it's not really fun to use, which is a big deterrent for people who aren't enthusiastic housekeepers or who resent being injured while cleaning. I'm thinking of aiming it out the door and seeing if it can suck in a boyfriend for me. Or, who knows, a lost $100 bill on the ground somewhere in Vegas. Ultimately my assessment is Dyson has gone in the wrong direction. The suction is SO strong they had to add a button to stop the beater bar because apparently it can decimate an area rug. It's vacuuming, not Sully landing on the Hudson. I always feel that people who design appliances never use them. This seems to be designed for a male body builder of 6'2. If only I had one.

Doesn't pick up the small fluff

By Conv

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

I have found that this machine is powerful and does a deep clean of thicker pile, however, I have found that it struggles to pick up small bits of fluff from a 'flatter' carpet. I have tried both settings (hard floor and carpet) and adjusted the suction (from min to max and in between) but I still find it can leave these 'bits' behind.

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

I bought this a month ago, and I am so pleased with the performance and ease of this vacuum. We have a Siberian Husky, so lot's of pet hair. We track in a lot of dirt, too. This vacuum effortlessly picks up EVERYTHING! So easy to maneuver too. This is my 2nd Dyson (first on lasted 12 years), and I will be a Dyson user for life. NO regrets!

Love It

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

I just bought this to replace my old Orange DC25 that was about 8 years old. I love this machine, it is quieter, seems to pick up better and love all the attachments. Especially the hand held to pick up animal hair. It's worth the extra money for all the attachments. The only draw back is, it isn't as easy to empty the canister, as I guess the HEPA Filter is in the center and all the dirt doesn't come out easily.

VERY HEAVY

By Doreen17

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

I have owned a DC04 for many years and it still works efficiently but I decided to treat myself to a new One. The Cinetic Big Ball has excellent suction and I love being able to glide from carpet to wooden flooring simply by pressing a button. However it is very heavy and especially difficult to manoeuvre when the max suction is selected. I am a fit 54 year old and more than capable to use a vacuum cleaner. The no bag cylinder empties simply but if it is fairly full, especially with dog hairs, it does not empty without having to hough out the contents. I would suggest emptying it after every use to avoid this issue. To summerize...I love my old Dyson but I would not recommend the Big Ball due to the weight and inconvenience of having to empty the dust cylinder after every use.

Love the suction and the tools!

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

We purchased our first Dyson animal in 2005. We were a little hesitant at first due to the high price but we were going through a vacuum cleaner a year so with Dyson's five year warranty it only made sense. That Dyson lasted us 10 1/2 years! When it was time for a new one we went straight to Dyson without thinking twice! We have 2 German Shepherds and 2 cats and the animal keeps our home virtually hair free!

Disappointed

By Audrey100

from Undisclosed

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

I have been really disappointed with my new Dyson. Why have they tried to improve on something that was already good. My main issues are: weight, this is really heavy and as a fit 48 year old, I struggle to get this up stairs; waste capacity; this needs emptied every time I use it, once it's above the red line, the performance is poor, emptying it is fiddly and I find the press and twist mechanism difficult to operate. I don't seem to be just able to press the button to discharge the waste from the bottom, as it gets stuck against the cylinder; the hose fitting is also very fiddly and I find it difficult to feed it back in and hook it into the runners. Would not recommend or purchase another one.

Ridiculous power, weighty but very clean floors.

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

New house means NEW vac. With brand new longish pile carpet throughout the 3 bed house I felt it was time for a new cleaner. I read reviews of the Cinetic big ball and was happy to purchase one. Only reading one bad review I thought this machine was going to be easy to use however once i started to push it round the house I quickly learnt it's too powerful for new carpet! The brush bar in the motorised head was stalling on the carpet, having visions of the machine ripping the carpet I contacted Dyson Service. They sent an engineer out who removed some seals to reduce the suction which helped. A new head will be needed once the carpet settles he said - under warranty! I was pleased with the guys knowledge and advise. Having used the machine 5 / 6 times now for a full house clean its quite tiring due to the weight but the way it cleans is fantastic so its worth the work out :) The looks of the Cinetic are good and the overall performance is outstanding.

Clogging of dust in the wheel lifter

Comments about Dyson DC77 Multi-Floor Upright Ball Vacuum:

Seen a thing on you tube about how to empty. Does not work that easy. Also said the one I have comes with all the tools. Didn't get two? As shown on Y tube. Why? Dust collecting in parts of the head I can't get to, to clean is a concern
