Christmas Morning Mother Saver

“My family has been making this on Christmas morning for as long as I can remember.”

- Diana, 204park.com

Ingredients
  • 16 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 16 slices ham
  • 16 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 eggs
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • ½-1 tsp. dry mustard
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • ¼ cup chopped green pepper
  • 1-2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cups milk
  • Tabasco to taste
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Crushed corn flakes
Recipe

Place 8 pieces of bread into the bottom of a buttered glass 9” x 13” baking dish. Cover bread with slices of ham and then the cheese, and cover with the other slices of bread.

In a bowl, whisk the eggs, pepper, dry mustard, onion, green peppers, Worcestershire sauce, milk and Tabasco. Pour the mixture over the bread, meat and cheese in the pan, and then cover. Place in the fridge to set overnight.

In the morning, melt the butter and then pour over the top of the casserole and cover with crushed corn flakes cereal. Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350°F.

Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Masterfully crafted

Craving that an on-trend, casual-luxe aesthetic? The secret is not trying too hard. Don’t overthink the design of your bedroom.

These simple decorating tips will help you achieve the look.

Holiday hack

Dangle Christmas ornaments from strips of ribbon for a fun, festive look!

Fashion-forward furniture

For this look, it’s best to avoid matchy-matchy furniture sets and work with pieces that feel comfortable, lived in and utilitarian. While the tufted headboard is a bedroom classic, many of the other pieces in this room could work in others rooms of the house. That mirror? In the hall. The cabinet? Dining room. Grouped together, these disparate items – all different neutral tones – are a match made in design heaven.

Work around

Add an armchair to boost the comfort factor of any master bedroom. This circular piece feels fresh and modern, and you're less likely to stub your foot walking in the dark.

Style fix

Evergreens like cedar, eucalyptus and pine are your holiday decorating MVPs! Bundle branches together with a wire, tuck sprigs into holiday arrangements, and add a stem or two to bouquets. Spritz them with water to keep them fresh.

Home office: one room, 3 looks

Design a multi-purpose space

Combine a home office and guest bedroom in one. It’s the smart way to get the most use from your space, without wasting square footage or going nuts with tons of furniture! Your three essentials:

  1. Stylish, wall-mounted storage doubles as a wrap station
  2. A sleep sofa bed works double-duty as a guest bed by night and extra seating during the day
  3. A minimalist desk and chair are the perfect combination of form and function
